On this day in 1985, “The Stuff” oozed into theaters! Larry Cohen’s satirical splatter show tackles consumerism with goo and gore! If The Blob were packaged and sold at Yogurtland, you would have something akin to “The Stuff.” It’s a unique monster movie that combines clever commentary with gross-out effects and good old-fashioned creature carnage. On this day in 1990, “Gremlins 2: The New Batch” hatched. Director Joe Dante and his crew decided that they couldn’t top the original… so they spoofed it. Joke-a-minute insanity reigns, with gremlins of every flavor taking control of a high tech skyscraper… and perhaps our reality! Musical numbers, monster movie references, literal cartoons, the senseless destruction of the fourth wall, Hulk Hogan, Christopher Lee, action scenes, Batman Fu, Spider Fu, Phantom of the Opera Fu, and beyond… this film has a little something for everyone!
